Wedfest ’17

Wedfest ’17

Yesterday I spent an almost sunny day with my beautiful bridesmaids. It was a birthday/bridal hybrid event which was excellent because it meant I was spoilt with both wedding fever and presents!

We spent a couple of hours at Wedfest ’17 at Capesthorne Hall, which I was really looking forward to, as up until yesterday, I was a Brides Up North event virgin.

The drive up to Capesthorne Hall was gorgeous and I did have a bit of ‘the fear’, worrying if it might actually be nicer than my venue (which I promise I’ll reveal soon) but luckily that soon passed. Whilst the grounds were amazing, I think the venue is let down by it’s interior, it’s grandure falls short of other country estates like Thornton Manor and Knowsley Hall. However, they do have a marquee option within their Lakeside Wing which would be much more up my street.

IMG_8053Wedfest itself was good fun, there were about 60 exhibitors including some familiar faces like the lovely Ice Cream Dub  and Stella Photography. However, it was the variety of new photobooth options on offer that really stood out to me.

Our photo in Betty

First up Betty, less of a booth and more of a caravan, well it is a caravan but a very beautiful, vintage caravan. The beauty of Betty is the fact she comes with a photographer, so forget about somebody not being prop ready when the countdown gets to 1 (look out for Laura later in the blog…) as these photos are all done by hand, they are then sent to you within 4 days of the wedding. Betty is also good for a moment of peace if you’ve had a glass or two too many…

The second new type of booth I saw isn’t a booth at all, it’s similar to the magic mirror as you can get loads of people in shot but it feels much more discrete as it’s just a little white box.

We tried out a couple of suppliers for this type of booth, both of which allowed you to personalise the background of the photo and the print itself to theme of your wedding. Smile-o-matic however gave you unlimited prints of each photo at a better price and the staff were super lovely – win, win, win!

All those photos make you hungry and a girls got to eat, so we spent the afternoon talking about wedding details over Afternoon Tea at my house. Jonny played chef and baked two types of scones for the occasion and I bought some extra treats from M&S… delicious!
